Rick’s educational background—a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Kansas and an M.B.A. in Statistics & Marketing from the University of Missouri—uniquely equips him to analyze both the rational and emotional drivers behind destination selection. In the meetings and conventions industry, where decisions hinge not only on logistics and data but also on perception, excitement, and appeal, this rare combination of analytical and storytelling skills provides a distinct advantage in uncovering what truly influences meeting planners.
A sought-after speaker and seasoned consultant, he has presented to CVB/DMO/Convention Center teams and boards, hospitality groups, public officials, and professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries, American Bar Association, and Reinsurance Roundtable. His clear, engaging presentation of results is frequently cited as one of the most valuable aspects of the Report.
Prior to founding Evidénz, Rick served as President & CEO of Flaspohler Research Group (1982–2015), which was later acquired by the global advisory firm NMG Consulting. His background also includes leadership roles at W.R. Grace and two international marketing and advertising agencies.
